i used a landy a lot in the forces, swb and lwb, and frankly in my honest opinion, what a pile of cack, sitting on fuel tanks, lwb with steering that would rip your thumbs off, gutless engines that would not pull the skin of a rice pudding

the sas use a variety of vehicles depending on the mission they are going on. you mention they use landys but they also used to use sherpas when i was on the inside. footprints all over em.
I have several mates who are in the forces - several mates who have been in the forces and a future brother in law who is in the Royal Marines - I have also worked on several MOD type contracts I will NOT talk about here.

I have driven Land Rovers in many countries and on very different kinds of terrain - most of my mates who are or were in the forces own their own Land Rovers!!!

As to you having used Landies in the forces that was obviously a long time ago - they dropped the Series models in about 1984 - anyone who knows anything about offroading would NEVER hook their thumbs under the wheel but it just isn't an issue with the Defenders or Wolfs they use now - not many vehicles have a damper on the steering!!!

I am well aware of what sort of vehicles the SAS use - even AVIS or Hertz when the need arrises!!! I have an ex SAS Range Rover complete with an internal roll cage and platform on the roof for aircraft assaults!!!

The Warrior is the same size as some tanks!!! It weighs 24 tons for God's sake!!!

Neither would be any good at driving around in typical Arab cities - even SWB Land Rovers can have problems in some of them - I know from experience - many walls still have the scars to prove it!!!

Please don't show up your TOTAL lack of knowledge - do you REALLY think the SAS would build their own???

Or maybe they built their own Range Rovers as well????
