Powering a beach 12VDC fridge box from solar

I was wondering If there was such a device from solar power that could keep me fridge box, working and cool on the beach ?

I was wondering if such a unit exists, what any of you folks would recommend ?

Think my Halford one draws about 3 amps which is a bit chunky I fear ?

is it as low as 3 Amps? I seem to recall I had a very small one that drew up to 7 amps!

even at 3 amps you'd need a massive panel even if we assume bright blue skies. Is your fridge not quite well insulated though? so contents start cold, it runs on the way to beach, then the insulation keeps it cold for a good few hours (left in shade).

You may have problems with Solar.

I get the fridge down to temperature prior to usage, then I fill with the food and drink, ensuring all is safe, leave some room, purchase a bag of ice cubes, either tip them in, can get messy, or keep in bag and use same as ice block.

I know gadgets are nice boys but

For that sort of money you could get a team of people lined up from tescos to the beach passing ice cubes down the line for a few days running

Let's put things in perspective now

Which begs the question, considering the OPs (big wuss) location, why on earth do you need a fridge in the first place😄 I have a couple of £30 camping gaz extreme coolboxes that will keep ice frozen for 2 days at Yorkshire summer temps.

I have a waeco compressor fridge in my vw camper, and, yes they are bloody expensive, BUT, they are awesome, and use no power whatsoever. And yes, before anyone says, I know that I cant take it to the beach I switch the fridge on, half setting, and within 10 -15 minutes, it is down to temperature. We use it all the time, on simple days out, for keeping the packed lunch / picnic cool, to using it for weeks whilst camping.

For the beach, though, we have one of these, and can highly recommend them, also really good on the boat...!

Coleman - Xtreme® Coolers

I have the 70qt one, and it is massive, but the smaller ones are superb. What we tend to do, is use the food recycling caddy, obviously after washing it out, fill it with water and put in freezer. When frozen, place in cooler, and it will keep your food and cider cold for days on end. Or for speed and ease, buy 2 bags of ice from Tesco, and put in......!
