did you guys not paint your boots then? i used the stuff the americans use, got it from the us bases and worked a treat. saved all that bollox, only did the spit and polish for 6 weeks while in basic training then moved to the paint approach.

only had to do it at dartmouth for a couple of terms then into the fleet where noone gives a toss...never came accross paint though, that'd would have saved all the fannying around with polish and cotton buds..

No some people did, but I just made sure my boots didn't get too dirty so they wouldn't take much buffing up. I used the floor polish a couple of times but wasn't impressed with it. If someone stood on your toe caps after you had used that stuff it was a nightmare to put right.

That would be Morello, is that what your using on the black bits Nick? no wonder it looked really shinney the other day.

You will be eligible for Boatmad if you carry on this polishing lark

Pete,

Morello (Thats it brings back some memories that does). That cost beer tokens.

As to the shiny black bits. A couple of weeks and I should be able to post results on my polishing tests. I've run out of my expensive boat polish so its time to experiment seriously now.

I might look in to getting some of that stuff for my work boots. Anything to impress with little effort.
