Pinball Haulage

Seriously off-topic this one, but here we go:

I keep wanting to bid on the pinball machines that go through eBay but often I have to hold off bidding because they are located too far away.

Anyone know of the most cost-effective way of organising a courier etc to collect it and drop it off to me here on the Island?

I used Palletline to ship stuff for me once before that was big but not actually on a Pallet. Cost about £100 from one end of the country to the other. Just let them know its not on a pallet and that there won't be a forklift at either end.

Talk to Hampshire Freight Services (used to be near the Meridian studios in Southampton) -they do Isle of Wight daily.

I spoke to them. They need it on a pallet and I am unsure whether an eBay Seller will want to fart about with pallets. I know I wouldn't.

You're unlikely to get it transported safely without palletising. Do the legs come off those things? Would make it a better option as some carriers have a pallet height restriction.

You could try Interparcel.com - they have a Titan service for larger items.

Yes, the legs come off and the head (usually) folds down. They will fit in the back of a people mover/estate.

Realistically there's no way to move/lift something that big onto a lorry commercially without palleting it up. H&S legislation.

Besides, it's less likely to get damaged on a pallet.

I suppose home removal firms lug stuff around without pallets though.
