I've a lifeproof cover for my I phone, which supposedly makes the phone pretty resilient to being wet and salty, the touchscreen still works fine and the features work fine....except for making calls!! The lifeproof cover seems to make the call quality terrible - all echo's and people I'm speaking to say it sounds like I'm underwater.

So I bought a Samsung Immerse new for 40 ish off Amazon to use a work / boat phone, thinking I'd carry on with the I phone the rest of the time. As it happens I've chucked the I phone in a drawer and just use the cheap Samsung. Great for calls and has a really useful torch on it that's super bright, battery lasts a whole week even when making hours of calls, plus it has a hole on the top that you can put a lanyard on and clip it to your lifejacket and still be able to hear it when blasting along on the rib.
