Some vender's do send the goods out, a recent example is Comet sending out TV's way less than the ticket price, as a good will gesture.

As for the error? IMO no error was made, just a newish type of viral marketing campaign. It even made the TV news, the site traffic, the inbound links....

A good idea which I think will be seen plenty more times in the next few months, probably to the point of saturation.

PS Anyone for a 1p apple mac?

Panasonic's t&c's are quite clear, and they reserve the right to refuse such orders. Most companies have similar terms, e.g. I think it was Argos who made an error in advertising a while ago - and didn't have to complete the sale - as their T&Cs were clear - you were making an offer to purchase, which they could chose (but were not bound) to accept.
Agreed but they do take your money that should be a binding contract, even though they refund in full afterwards

Has it been confirmed as a mistake? It may have been a clever marketing ploy, everyone has been telling everyone else about the site if they do get the goods they will continue to promote Panasonic and keep checking the website in the future for more penny bargains. If they don't then they will just get slagged off. Still my bet is that it is a mistake and nobody will see the 1p goods except of course my 5000 tvs'

they took their website down for "maintainence" for quite a while - that doesn't sound clever to me.
