Online Mobile unlock companies

Has anyone used one of these to get an unlock code?

A couple of days ago I completely wrecked my Huawei Ascend G300 which I have on a Vodafone contract.

I've got hold of a used LG Optimus 4X P880 for next to nothing locally.
The vendor said it was a Talktalk phone so will be OK with a Vodafone SIM as TT uses the Vodafone network.

Well of course that was rubbish, the opposite is true, you can use a TT SIM in a VF phone but not the other way round.
My fault, I should have checked what he was telling me before bidding or parting with the cash.
He was very P****d with what I won it for and now isn't answering my calls, so won't be any help getting TT to unlock it.

Anyway, loads of online companies offering codes online to unlock phones, but would like to use one that somebody else has already tried.

Thanks

Nasher.

Don't pay for it. All the operators are now obliged to unlock for free. If you go to Vodafone they will unlock it.

I thought that was only for "their customers" can vodafone unlock any other networks handsets?

My advice goto your local market there will be someone for a £5 or £10 who will do it and if it doesnt work you don't pay!

It might just be for 'thier' customers. The way round that is to buy the cheapest Pay as You go sim you can find on the network its locked to, then once registered ask them to unlock the phone.

It may cost slightly more in the long run, but at least you know who is messing around with the software in your phone.

As suggested the providers are only obliged to unlock phones for their customers who are currently locked to their network, so that wasn't going to work for me.

Thanks for the replies today, but I ended up down the market a couple of days ago before anyone replied to this thread, cost me £10, but the phone is now working well with my Vodafone SIM card.
