£49,999 inc VAT for the Hummer H2 (the civilian spec unit) - not bad for a car with a 6.0 litre V8, although it is 86.5" wide
And it'll p*ss over my Rangie off road

Neber said that I'll buy a BMW X5 but prefer it to a FREELANDER any day.
FREELANDERS (in my opinion) are toy cars. People call them a poor man's 4x4.

Hummers go for about Euro 20,000 in Europe.

Manos,
You know Jack about 4x4s.. On my 12th LR product over 20 years, (nice shiny 110 Td5) and wife has Td4 Freelander. Have taken all my 4x4's off road both here and Europe (Alps/Pyrenees Etc) and would say that within the limits of its ground clearance (and with decent tyres natch!) the Freelander is one very competent vehicle. The lack of transfer box (high/low) does not hinder it very much on the slippery stuff. In fact on mud, wet grass, light snow it will leave my defender for dead. Traction control beats centre diff lock in these cases....... oh for another set of ARBs......
Rant over!!!

PS - 4x4 owner's have same blinkered loyalties as RIBs...

PPS - In the Pyrenees last time, there we were feeling all pleased with ourselves for mastering the Montgari trail, when a little Spanish renault van comes the other way loaded up with the family plus picnic. It ain't what you drive, it's how you drive it.

Anything goes, as long as it's a Land Rover!

I heard that you can get an optional off roading kit to enhance the performance of a Freeloader. It comes in 2 parts: a V8 Defender to pull you out of the mud, and a dog to bark at anyone who laughs at you

John

And you think YOUR 4x4 looks butch!

"Fill her up, clean the screen and..oh..say 300 rounds of .303.. "

"Certainly, Sir, do you have your reward card?"

Off road heaven..

Now this is what 4x4's were invented for... High up in the Pyrenees.. note the Nissan interloper and the 88" with the obligatory open bonnet, but fair play, he drove that 'ol 21/4 all the way down to here from Wolverhampton in one go and it never missed a beat..

Talking about 4X4 in the continent Europe or in UK seems to me a bit odd I have been taking trips on several occasions where people are taking slopes and hills like that is end of the world I must say those people haven´t been to the wilderness yet. Over here almost all 4X4 are modified like we have done to this Hummer

I wouldn´t even sell mine for that price, you might get US army surplus for that but then you need to spend another EUR 20.000

Oh Yeah?

Call that modified?.. take one 101" Chassis, stretch to 131", add John Eales 4.6litre V8, tuned for torque, fit R/R bellhousing, install new R/R gearbox complete with custom mounts and O/drive. Lengthen front propshaft to give better angle to U/J's.Fit 11.00 x16's rebuild everything nut and bolt... then go hunting for jeep owners...
