Nice site Tim. Hope you get some good sales from it.

I came across a site recently where the 'Save picture as' option in IE was disabled. No idea how it's done, but that showed it's possible.

I know you said that they were too small to do much with, but people may still use them as web images. Also the rotating ones on the front page are larger images.

Bit of work I realise, but you can improve your Google search by putting a different alt img tag against each photo instead of the default picture ref - same for titles under the pics. (Assuming you want that of course!)

You can do that in Javascript. Its pretty pointless as you can get round it using the print screen button then pasting the image into paint etc etc.

You can disable mouse clicks, I don;t believe you can actually disable the "File->save as" or the "windows menu key" button.

The only way to really protect the images, and thats by putting watermarks in... you can put really faint small ones all over, it allows people to see the picture, but stops them using it in anything else...

It's far easier than that-you can simply pull the image from your temp IE files.

Absolutely right!

Disabling mouse clicks simply demostrates a lck of clue bu the web designer, and pisses people off who use the right-click menu for other things like opening a link in a new window.

Generally, where there's a will there's a way.

Nothing is foolproof, but a few ways to make it more difficult, without reducing functionality:

Display the images as a background image of a table cell (or other object). Then insert a transparent gif img into the cell. When use does save as, or copy, they get the transparent gif instead of the protected image.

Use ssl for the images which (I think, could be wrong), are not cached.

Use script to dynamically generate the url for the image with a simple encryption on the url delivered.

Embed the entire image in the http doc in an encoded format and use script to decode it and render the image.
