New L200 model

Hi All
Went to my local Mitsubishi dealership yesterday for an off roading event to launch the new L200, here some highlights of the new L200 pick-up.

Beneath the bonnet is a new 2.5-litre DI-D common-rail turbo diesel engine, delivering better performance and improved fuel economy. Power is increased from 114 bhp to 134 bhp, and the latest power-plant delivers an impressive 232 lb ft of torque (compared to 177 lb ft on the existing model).

Also new is a choice of four-speed auto’ transmission or five-speed manual, and a “Super Select 4WD” system, allowing you to use four-wheel drive on the road.

Available on the forthcoming model is the brand new M-ASTC (Mitsubishi Active Stability & Traction Control) system, which makes the L200 even better, both on- and off-road.

Improved turning circle (from 12.8m, down to 11.8m)

For me Shag, like the new Navara, it's styled for the yanks. I liked the styling of the old L200, it looked robust. The new Disco maintains a rugged look. These new jap 4x4's look all soft and stylised. I'm sure that technically is a major leap forward, it just looks a bit soppy.

Does it STILL use leaf springs like a 1940s Land Rover???

i bet its made by ronseal and will do what it claims to do on the tin

i like it and would have had one to replace my old warrior but the date for sale was quoted as august at one point so i got a defender with 4k discount

No, the latest L200's have their rear ends suspended on "Skyhooks"! Now you wont see that on a Disco for a few years!

word of warning....I know of many people who have bought the l200 within the last two years, now they dont own them....take a test drive in a 200 then one in the nissan navara,make up your own mind.

That depends on what you want it for. Mine is a workhorse that I can fit the kids in. It's hard and gets treated pretty hard. I stack it high with crap from my business, lash 5 surfboards on it and drag trailers and a Rib with it. I've tried a Navara and rated it as being to much of a car for me, I'd break it.

Had my 2005 Animal for a year and Im very happy with it, would be nicer if it wasnt so thirsty, the newer L200 is better on fuel.

I did test drive a Navara and could not really find anything that different with it compared to the L200.

my navara is also a workhorse I use mine to collect sand stone and concrete every day for my job, also I tow trailers and ribs, i've even ripped out trees with it...all this and its over 3 years old with never a fault

Blanking off the EGR valve will help the economy Shaggy, it also improves performance a little and stops any black smoke. A guy I know with a chipped Animal reckons that the chipping improved the MPG a bit also. Mine does about 25ish during normal use.
