MOD consider giving away HMS Victory

This HAS to be a bad idea.

Just how would it be possible to have a privately owned comissioned warship...?

Although I do see it as a bad thing, Bristol seems to be part-private ( I remember going to a Birthday bash on there once) and dosen't seem have to abused it too much, i guess if you get enthusiasts who are passionate about the ship it remains in .... wait for it..... ship-shape?

HMS Clyde is owned by VT and leased to MOD

Just another way to get rid of our heritage

Victory is currently the World's oldest commissioned warship - if the navy gives it away the Yanks win again!!!

In total agreement!! Has to be a bad idea, but when has that EVER stopped this govenment,a national symbol of the highest order! should be treated and reveared as such.
No doubt another idea of some faceless, nameless ,Labour sinkafantic civil servant trying to curry favor with his masters.
And further his own political agenda no doubt at the same time.I think they might have a fight on thier hands.I certainly hope so!!!!
Incidently,H.M.S Victory actuly makes a profit!

Its shocking ! I was born & raised in Portsmouth ( are are distantly related to Nelson by marriage ! ) & its horrific how the Navy has been run down in the city. Victory has to stay in Navy control.

I've only just come to tersm with the decision to sell off the royal yacht as it was costing money . Well as we all know anything that floats costs money, usually the bigger the float the bigger the cost. In this case even if it once floated it will cost money, but I'd ratehr pay my tax for that than the endless garbage the govt comes up with ( ID cards - the 'Dome' etc )
