Oi Davies, stop having a go at the gentlemanly Dan. Just because he has the good sense to ask for a female opinion... That's twice I've had to tell you off this week (yes, I haven't forgotten the Essex gibe) - now go and flog a dumper or whatever it is you do!

And don't think you get round me with your smile either.

Actually Phil, aren't Range Rovers now a bit "bling bling" now? The average Rangie driver in Essex doesn't seem to be the huntin' shootin' & ribbin' type at all

Regretfully, I have to agree, Alan. You've probably noticed that virtually all of the new RR's in Essex are either black or silver, and the majority of them with those really tasteful blacked out windows and chrome rock sliders If you go to Scotland during the salmon fishing/grouse season you'll see a lot more Epsom Green and Burgundy ones and, I'm pleased to say, Adriatic Blue. Markedly different customer profile to P38 it seems - more like C2 if you ask me

YOU MUST BE JOKING..... I WOULD CHOOSE A DEFENDER 110 EVERYTIME!

How many vehicles are around with a Tent on the roof, with a built in gas supply for cooking etc? On a whim, we can go away for a weekend without having to worry about accommodation etc.

Can you do that with the L200? I don't think so!

Errm the answer is of course "Any LWB 4x4 with a full length roof rack & a roof tent". Not the sole preserve of LR110's. Also not something you could do with a 110 double cab either!

The Japs and the Yanks are miles ahead of the Brits in making Jeeps. They use to make good relaible jeeps in the UK long time ago and until the 80s but not any more (UNFORTUNATELY).
So if you are serious and want to buy a jeep jeep without having gear box problems, differential problems, power steering problems, electric problems and you have considered a Mitsubishi then get it without asking any further questions. And also they look bloody

yeah, that's right, so far I've only had to replace the ECU, twice, front wheel bearings, twice, had the front suspension reshimmed, twice, but it's ready to go again, anti roll bar bushes, torsion bar collars.. and they still haven't fixed the water ingress into the cab..all warranty work so far, but hey, it's Japanese, so it must be good, right?

Oh, yeah? and the Yanks. I had three Ford Explorers (Yank built) One was so bad they had it back, one I chopped in and bought a Toyota, the other I can't give away, 'cause no one seems able to fix the transmission fault indicator. They only went through about half a dozen re-calls each, from minor to "throttle jammed open" which killed some unfortunate soul in Bristol. Oh and the tyres kept falling apart...but hey, it's Yank, so it must be good right?

Could be worse he could be looking at a "Big Horn" - nicely understated name for a 4x4 I've always thought.

Jono did I mentioned the Explorer? If you didn't know that the early models of this vehicle type had many problems then ................

The L200 is very popular in Greece in particular that one with the roll and bool bars and the spot lights, huge wheels. It really looks very cool and people who I've asked never had a problem. Jono may be you jink these jeeps and you shouldn't drive them

Also the Russian mafia uses them with tinted glass. If they use them they must be reliable when they want to make a quick getaway

Er? You did mention Yanks being "miles" ahead and, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Explorer is/was the best selling four wheel drive made in the USA...... s**t you've got a short memory. Who said they were early model Explorers? Not me.

I can’t understand why anyone these days would want to buy a car that is fitted leaf springs this is 130 year old technology that even Land Rover has given up . In fact even new horse carts don’t use them

The ride is poor because all they do is bounce up and down, they are noisy and useless off road.

(That should get this debate really going)
