Love my new phone HTC HD

This is definitely the best (phone?) I have ever had. Just as good as an Ipaq but not too big. Much more versatile than an Iphone.

So far running TomTom and Memory map with OS maps. Also using Google Earth/maps - it refreshes fast enough to show exactly where you are ven when driving with almost no lag.

Should be great for navigation as well when I scan in some charts using Ozzie.

The beauty of windows mobile is there is so much you can download for it - free if you know where to look.

Also have an Ebook reader and it's great for youtube and surfing the net using Opera.

A million times better than my Nokia N95!!!

I have wanted one of these for months, but no sign of Vodafone stocking them yet...

The touch diamond will do all the same stuff - just with a smaller screen - it's still fantastic - my borther has one.

Yes I had the old SPV200 and it was a pain but it's a lot better now. Still a few problems like progs don't close when you close them etc but all easily sorted.

Surfing the net is great - the screen is so good half the time you don't even need the stylus - even when typing.

The GPS function is so amazing - signal is far better than my Garmin hand held - even works indoors to a certain extent. I can even use my phone as a bluetooth GPS for a laptop. Not only that but with the data bundle it also works well as a modem.

Memory map with OS maps is incredibly accurate - within a few feet. Google Earth is great fun but does drift around a touch - opnly by about 15' or so but it looks weird to be moiving when you are standing still.

I will try some nautical charts later - scan them in and use them with memory map or ozzie.

With a suitable freezer bag this phone could be a great nav tool.

All this also applys to the Touch Diamond which is a lot cheaper - only difference is the screen size.

At last a phone I am happy with - miracle...........

Yes the HTC HD is state of the art. If you want to give your HD the ultimate boost head to xda-developers. This super fast and stable Rom has Google Latitude incorporated. So when boating with friends you can easily see their locations.

Here in Holland complete waterways overlays are available for use on the TomTom. And TomTom 7 works splendid on the big WVGA screen of the HD.

For OziExporer I found digital geo maps for the whole of Europe (yes GB included ), but still can't locate digital nautical maps...

Regards,

The best phone I've ever had is my current one, HTC Titan. Now if your into toys.......

If you buy a tomtom 940 live, you've got the lot if you spend time in the car of any note.
1) plays movies (sound through the car system)for the kids.
2) next generation hands free if they want to stop people using phones in cars this is the way to do it.(automatic bluetooth link)
3)it checks the best prices for fuel in the area. lots of other stuff.

I've just bought one ...if you're interested in that kind of stuff,it's well worth a look.

Video compression software getting the better of me though..

The HTC TyTnII is not my favorite but got a few more years to suffer it before work will replace it for free.
Only redeeming feature is TomTom Nav 6 runs on it. ( but the NZ map only works on Nav7) :-(
