Loading bay fine

I parked in a goods loading bay restricted to 30mins in Southampton high street
outside the shop which has a trade account with me to pick up 4 large stock items in a large 4x4 and was 10mins at most and got a £70 fine code 23 which means
wrong type of vehicle, ie not a van ! although I am a trade supplier to the High Street shop, do I have a case to fight or should I just pay up?

White dotted lines on the road with LOADING BAY wording and a small sign plate on an 8 foot saying goods loading bay 30mins

Get a letter from the shop stating that you are a trade customer & that you were collecting. Provide proof of your commercial credentials, VAT reg, company reg etc. & fight, go to court if necessary. Magistrates are generally on your side as long as you can give them something to go on. In the first instance, appeal to the local authority & make it clear that you will take it all the way & claim costs when you win.

Fight it you were loading and you have a contract with the shop, you did nothing wrong, they can't dictate what vehicle you use to do your job

Parking

Thanks for your support the keywords seems GOODS VEHICLE Loading Bay and not just Loading Bay but the definition of goods vehicle is a grey area after having a google about all this, just wondered if anyone has won a similar case?

Counsel's opinion here on similar cases may inform your decision...

Is your 4x4 a pickup or other dual purpose vehicle? E.G. defender, is it VAT reclaimable? i.e commercial?

Aren't most cars taxed as PLG private light goods anyway?

Great source of info here PePiPoo: Helping the motorist to get justice

Get the ticket and letter scanned, taking out all personal details, then load to their site, Just as likely not to conform to rules, likewise get images of road signs in case they dont conform- Most dont if you actually check.

I challenged a bus lane ticket and won

Yup! I'd fight it, because it's reasonable. But hey! That's me

Was ticket issued by parking attendants? By using a camera?

Either way likely to be incorrect. Camera may not have enough signs up, or even not authorised for traffic enforcement.

As I say put all on Pepitoo

I have taken some poor google screen shots and a screen shot of some parking definition from gov site, so will post them, the ticket was issued by council.

The sign usually says "Goods Vehicles Loading Only" to indicate a Bay reserved for loading and unloading by goods vehicles only during the time shown.

A sign saying "Goods Loading Bay" as you describe is ambiguous and doesn't appear to dictate a type of vehicle. Might be worth checking and taking a picture of the sign.

Edit, never mind I see you have posted a picture!
