I have indeed, only by the skin of my teeth though. I actually worked in one of the stores right next door to Lidl for about 6 months or so as a refit manager, I would guess that at least 2-3hrs a day was spent chasing horrible kids out of the store who would then start lobbing rocks at you, or chasing people out of the skips. We actually had to throw away a substantial amount of product in one go which we knew all the locals would have an interest in so to try to discourage them we covered it in creosote and paint, we even covered the skip in paint to try to stop them climbing on it, within about 30 mins there were three blokes standing in the skip covered in creosote still trying to pull stuff out of it. When we were locking up at night, obviously the skips were outside, you would see anything up to 10 cars pulling on to the little industrial estate behind us waiting for us to go so they could get in the skips, we'd come back in the next morning and it would be like a war zone there, itd take a team hours just to get the yard tidy again.
Incidentally whilst I was there the Lidl store was closed down owing to an infestion of rats. Its a nice place the Sandfields estate.

Whats scary is that it's actually a lot better than certain parts of Swansea. How you can have so much of a difference in one city amazes me. You have £1 million houses and a big marina with many nice boats - nice country cottages and then the scum of the Earth. Sometimes it can be astonishing the difference between one end of a street and another.

Having said that there is nowhere in the Swansea/Neath Port Talbot area that isn't safe to walk at night - just don't leave your car anywhere!!!

Is that true? I'm from Newport originally and I most certainly wouldnt say that about it, there are loads of areas there that I'd rather not walk around in broad daylight unless I had too, never mind at night.

The local London stores never seem to have this kit in. We must be to far from the sea for it to be of interest

I've been to Lidl stores in Europe and never thought it was a bad shop.

I went to the one in Basingstoke for the first time when they had those waders for a tenner and I couldn't wait to get out of the place. It was full of blokes wearing football tops, not doing any shopping but standing around in groups just talking, whilst their tottoed wives shouted at each other what bargains they were looking for.

I also went to get some German BBQ meat, its supposed to be a german shop, but couldn't find what I wanted.

Needless to say I beat a hasty retreat without buying anything.

Scarey place.........
