Landrover Aircon

Catching up on jobs abandoned when I ran out of time
before going off to work for a 5 months away stint,
and one of those was that the air con was not getting cold.
Having stood for 5 months, its definitely still not getting cold!
Hopefully its just a regas, and was wondering if anyone has had this
done at Kwik Fit or Halfords - and hat their service was like.

that's probably the moss & grass growing in the gaps around the windows & door & floor seals where the wind usually rushes in

a good jet wash & de weed should have the usuall landrover draughts back as they should be & cooling you as they should!!!!

I cant get anyone to start the thing or move it when I am away.
Frankly I was gobsmacked when I got back and it started first time !
But yes - evidence of green mold growing along the door window seals

Hopefully its just a degas,
I keep scaring myself that the compressor may have failed.

I booked mine into LR for an air con service as it want cold. 10 mins later they told me I had a pipe that had corroded. (the link between the main ac and the rear ac) They wanted £500 to replace this.

I took it home and due to the heat i got miffed off and took it to Kwik Fit as they had a 'No recharge no charge' offer running, so they hooked up the machine and keyed in the details of the car and it ran for about 1hr and the machine passed the system as having no leaks, they recharged the system - and 18 months later is still cold.

I took this issue up with LR and they said, the system had zero pressure and when they inspected they found residue near a common failure point and hadn't actually done any pressure tests and couldn't confirm the 'residue' was AC related...

anyone around the Merseyside area I can recommend Ian Barclay for any servicing / repairs etc, he's a top bloke as are the two lads working there, very experienced with all land rovers, defenders, discos, range rovers etc, well worth a visit or phone call, 01516453342, if you mention me you won't get a discount but it may raise a smile

LOL! Chuck a stone at a Landy and it will hit a common failure point coated in "residue"

of course only snag with Kwik fit is how they want to get their hands all over the rest of
the vehicle... so I ended up with a lecture about tyre life and tyre wear !
