Kids Quad 50cc

looking at getting my 6yo an upgrade to his electric quad. Budget around £300.00

I know there is lots of stuff on ebay for that price although I imagine its pretty shite. Any ideas?

Or does anyone have a S/H Suzuki LT50 they are looking to part with ?

An LT for £300? Be very careful in that price range. They hold their money like Land Rovers and for obvious reason, they are a very good bike.

My lad has had a few bikes now, his first one was a Kazuma 50. They aren't one of the "big" names but it was a cracking little tool, great little four stroke engine, it never let us down and I'd have another. I sold it to my pal who's young lad uses it nearly every weekend and its still going strong. Spares are easy to come by.

His next bike was an "eBay" job, a Chinese cheapy and you could tell. Soft metal, flimsy plastics and the engine had a bit of a personality. I wouldn't buy another.

His latest bike is an Adly Moto, it is a 100cc 2 stroke autolube, electric and kick start, semi auto box and is just a little smaller than a full sized quad. It's EXTREMELY fast and able, I'm 17st and it flys with me on it. Not really suitable for your needs.

The Kazuma gets my vote.

My lad had an LT50 at around 4/5yo.

Proceed with care. It's not the speed or power that's the issue, it's the grip/traction.

He had a Kwacker battery quad prior. It went like stink on tarmac, but had little grip. He could slide it around bends, but the lack of grip meant that it wouldn't turn over or climb banks and hedges. The LT was a whole different story. He ended up with it on top of him twice and they're not light.

Had an LT 70 and it was fast as **** it's was big enough for me with one of the kids. It wanted to tip over in a tight corner.

I'd buy another LT tomorrow

Had the LT 50 for my kids £850 new sold it after 5 years for £500 on eBay and could have sold more. They hold their value well.

Yep all noted would certainly be keeping the governor set to slowest setting until he's got the hang of it...

The Kazuma looks interesting what age will it take him up to (average 6yo at the moment)

My lad was about 9 when we flogged it on, the problem was the front end was starting to lift as he put the power on as he was sitting quite far back on the seat.

The Kazuma was quite good as it has an adjustable throttle and a parents kill cord at the rear of the bike that I used to attach one of those retractable dog leads to, if he got too fast I pressed the button on the lead locking it and in turn it whipped the kill cord out. Good for when they are starting off.

The LT 50's are cracking little bikes. There not to easy to find or get a decent one. But if you can find one they are well worth the extra money. My nephew has one and he loves it.

Anybody have any experience with these?

Chinese I know but UK dealer, spares and a 1 year warranty. Bit bigger than the kazuma, so might last our lad a little longer. I can't find any reviews though.

Would love a suzi or similar but just can't justify the expense and risk of second hand.

Hi Phil our Dan had an lt50 for years & rode it to death but it never let him down even though he was far too big for it before he switched to a motorbike
His was second hand when we bought it & over several years we lost very little on it when we sold it
I'd wager if you bought a used suzuki you'd lose less money than a Chinese copy as you will still get good money for it when you sell it.
Your more likely to almost give away a Chinese one when your finished with it.
We did exactly the same with his first bike paid more than the cost of a new Chinese bike for a used yamaha but sold it 2 years later & only lost 50 quid
Suzuki lt50s are a bit like a 4m searider with a 50 yamaha.!

After much research, I've just blown the budget out of the water and ordered a new Polaris 50 Outlaw. It should do number one for 3-4 years and then number two will be about big enough to take over. Will have to put off the new hull for a while though.
