did you read a different article from me? where does it say they were delivered? where does it even suggest the parents were aware of where they were? I don't know Newquay well enough to know how dodgy it is (or its reputation is). If you're version of events is right though - they probably came from outside the area, quite possibly from somewhere much dodgier.

If you consider this normal parental behavior, goodness knows what sort of upbringing you've had.
since your version of events and the BBC's are a bit different we would probably be talking at cross purposes.

But I am concerned that we wrap our children in cotton wool too much and they become unable to assess risk or make decisions for themselves. I actually believe that the parent who "locks" their children up until they are 18 does as much harm to them as the one who turns a relatively blind eye to their 15 yr old drinking cheap cider. I never got brought home by the police, 20 odd years ago, but knew a few people who did - generally speaking the consequences were worse than anything the justice system would doll out today. I'm not implying that was wrong either - simply that this is going on every weekend across the country and isn't headline news.

Give up Kern. This lot have no idea what it's like living in uk's 'Gaza strip'.

The problem is that they get 'rescued' and taken home safe and well to live and drink another day. They have no respect for what they are doing or for their parents or authority. In my view it is a lack of discipline that leads to this, without that discipline there are no real conseuences for their actions (until one of their peers does get injured or seriously hurt).

I can readily accept Polwart's comments about not nannying, but I would have to ask what were they doing some 100 miles from home if the parents didn't know about it. I can understand going down to the local park with a can of lager or two for an afternoon, but not an organised excursion.

No where in the article did it say he was under the influence.
I'll leave you to PM Mollers to decide what to reply with next.

Chewy I haven't pm'd or spoken to Mollers for months, don't know what you mean by that. I linked to the first press report because it was reasonably sympathetic to the poor lad but thought it left no doubt as to the cause, obviously it didn't with you.

Why is it that 2 girls aged 15 are drinking vodka in a 24 Hr session in the first place ? Surely that is of more relevance and of greatest concern ?

*edit* regardless of Polwarts mammary status

Calling Planet RIBnet...

Have you lot been out recently, since say, oh, 1990? This stuff is wee buns, a mere bagatelle! It's a battlefield out there and I've seen kids of 12 being given alcopops by the parents.

- cues the Rutger Hauer Blade Runner Monologue:

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...."

Anyway, I feel compelled to lower my Victor Avatar, it seems that I'm no longer worthy
