yeah all the contracts include unlimited browsing, but 3g isn't as quick as your ISP.

If you're looking at an iphone, I'd recommend getting the £45 a month and then after 9 months, downgrade to the £35 a month contract, you actually save yourself £10 and get a load of free minutes in the process.

There seems to be an abundance of time-wasting apps in the appstore, and I agree with Joh, that it does indeed change your lifestyle!

I was just waiting for Adam aka Bigfoot to pipe up about this subject! All I've heard for the last week is how great the iPhone is

MacBook Pro

If you think the iPhone is cool (which I do) then try using a MacBook Pro or iMac. I have just "converted" from PC to Mac and wow it's superb.

Main Advantages i have found (Mac vs PC)
1..Mac works - No stupid error messages
2..Lots of Apps built in to the op system. I can create a video and burn to DVD with a few clicks and....it works!
3..Fast
4..Can run windows apps using parallels at the same time (awesome)
5..Doing stuff is so much easier.
6..Don't have to use buggy Microsoft software
7..Viruses etc not the issue they are on a PC
8..Loads from cold very quickly, no need to turn on then go for a coffee (or short holiday)
9..Sleep / Resume works and keeps network settings etc
10..MS Office (Word/Excel/PP) is £99!! (Home use only of course)

Main Disadvantages
1..Apple mouse is crap (buy another type)
2..Everyone now thinks I am a graphic designer. 8-)
3..Amount of software available is less than PC, although a lot of software is included with the mac, buy a PC and you can't use it for anything unless you shell out money.
4..Some software not available for Mac (Can use under parallels though - 50quid + windows licence)

Overall, wish I had changed ages ago, I was a great PC fan but now I have been converted and that is saying something.

I'm the same, i bought the black macbook and upgraded it to be the same spec as the pro, just without the graphics card, and had it for just under a year, absolutely treasure it and I dont think I could buy another PC .. it just wouldn't feel right not being in the orchard.

You can run Bootcamp for any PC apps, but sometimes if you have loaded a lot of stuff onto your memory it's too late to partition your hard drive and install windows. However it does work with an unlicensed copy of windows (and runs in a separate window , like spaces) so you can have two operating systems running in tandem.

There are some cool functions you can play with using the mac's altmeter thingymobob like smackbook

or macsabre

and if you have a pro, Lightbook

21 seconds, says so on the Apple website and bizzarely accurate every single time... maybe there's a little Steve Jobs clone inside every one who is on a hamster wheel type contraption running the show.

I agree, I think Vista has a lot to answer for here though since it makes some of my machines painfully slow to load, even after ensuring the minimal amount of start up apps. A good XP set up was much faster, AND, on older machines too

Microcost have admitted that almost 1/3 of all computers supplied with Vista have been "downgraded" back to XP - if you ask me it should be "upgraded"!!!

All the big corporate users have told them where to shove Vista so it looks like the writing is opn the wall - yet another dead end product!!!

I'm not a big PC person, but is the nature of windows upgradable, e.g. OS X is the same operating system, but just upgraded e.g. tiger, leopard and now snow leopard. - or is Vista completely different? I don't understand why people take it from Microsoft, Macs just seem to work and be easy, Pcs just seem to get more and more complicated. from what I've seen, Microsoft are just moving towards Apple ideas. ( like the zoom on that new tablet jobbie)

Not that I know of - you have to wipe it and start again - make sure you find and download the drivers you will need BEFORE you wipe it!!!

Now I know u may all be technophobes but its not difficult to jailbreak (kinda hack) iphones a to get added functionality and b be able to use it on a different network. I have done it multiple times.

Jailbreaking gives you access to Cydia which is like a hackers appstore where you can download loads of stuff like 3g unrestrictor which lets you use skype on the move (therefore reducing call costs significantly) and slingplayer to watch tv on the move (if u have 1). Here is the best site for info I belive www.quickpwn.com but for Iphone 3gs or even just 3gs software you want to use redsn0w redsn0w.com and for unlocking its ultrasnow that you want from the same site i think!

Try it!

(even on ipod touch Jailbreaking gives alot better functionality!!
