It Never Rain But It...

Long story short.. Myself and wife treated ourselves to a new (to us) car last year, an 2014 Audi A3 S Line, waited for the right colour, spec, mileage, age and finally found one in Arnold Clark Glasgow.

The car had some scuffs on the alloys and a couple of paint chips so we agreed that if these issues were taken care of and they put a fresh MOT on it we would buy it. They agreed. Great.

Whilst heading in to town a few days ago the local traffic cops pulled us over.....no MOT! I argued black was white and the MOT was due at end of this month but Mr Officer wasn't having any of it and gave me a fixed penalty. It turns out that Arnold Clark never did put an MOT on the car and it went out 3 months ago!

We had no written agreement with Arnold Clark so no point going knocking on their door, I paid the £100 fine (2 nights ago) and put it down to one of those annoying things that life throws at you now and then. My fault for not double checking MOT when it was filed away I suppose.

Today I had a meeting in a village an hour from me. I set off at 7am in my works Hilux to be there for 8. Whilst going through Fort William I got pulled over by the very same officer that had given me a ticket a few days earlier. When I got out the car he smiled when he realised who he had pulled over, the reason this time...no fuckin MOT!!!!! It went out in June! Some sort of clerical oversight in head office apparently.

So having never sat in the back of a cop car in all my life, I get pulled over twice by the same officer, for the same offence, in a matter of days.

And I was and hour and half late for my meeting as they wouldn't let me drive said vehicle any further, I had to get a colleagues vehicle.

So now I'm on the cider!!

Audi, 2014 Car. 1st MOT due sometime during 2017. If you got a mot certificate from Arnold Shark How are you not covered until 2018 or has the rules changed on new cars?
