Isle of Wight passports?

Is this true the government want passports/or ID for crossing the Solent? or the Scottish islands?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...sle-Wight.html

If so how does this affect charter/private boats

Yep, there is a huge terrorist problem on Skye, Mull, Canna, Eigg, Barra et al.
There are huge arms dumps and training grounds used by the Hebridean seperatist movement which need to be tracked.
It is getting well over the top and isn't even effective. I wonder if we now need passports to pop over to Mull in the RIB, who is going to collect them?
It won't work up here anyway, folk will just ignore it as much as they can.

Seems like a waste of time and money to me!
What happens if you set off in your RIB or yacht and get caught out by the weather or just change your mind and end up in Cowes.
Do you get shafted for not informing them and what happens if you don't actually have a passport or have forgotten it?

Fecking midges, I sat in the log cabin we had when I was up in Hunting Tower as I got bit to buggery!

No islands where I live so I'll be ok.

I hope it's just Daily Mail hype. My gut feeling tells me it's not though.

I wonder how long it'll be before JK has his movements curtailed because of the fireworks business....

Isn't the e borders thing to keep undesirables out? if so I would outraged if I came from the Isle of Blanc and needed to show my passport on Entering England. On the other hand perhaps the island is inhabited by undesirables

This is April fool early - no way is it real . They dont track you in light aircraft so not a chance in a boat ! I can however see the advantage of not letting people off the Island..... Infact I'm from Portsmouth - thats an Island ( technically ) & can see advantages in not letting people of there too without checks first !!

I posted on this a few weeks ago - nobody paid much attention - it's only when it actually happens that these things tend to sink in!!!

This is incorrect. Apparently, according to a recent MORI poll, I read 98.7% of his posts.
