I'm convinced that my modem isn't running at full speed. I've got it connected though the ethernet connection and since earlier this evening when it stopped working I used the problem solving software that came with it to rectify things and every since it's been running slow (like v56k modem)

Any suggestions?

YIK I have 4 connections available ATM from neighbours. Folks really should secure their connections. Ah well ... back to I tunes downloads on someone elses bandwidth ... Only kidding But peeps should get wise to this as you pay for volume useage these days.

That is scary - I was just checking mine!!!

These things are pretty inaccurate at times. We have just gone up to 20mb but NTL's proxy servers are playing up so surfing is still a pain!!!

It's surprising how much difference daytime usage makes.
Check the contention ratio of your asdl supplier to as this can make a big difference to the speed you actually experience. This could well explain why the speed changed from day to day. If you are on at peek times then you will be sharing ‘your’ bandwidth more people if the contention ratio is high. (And I don’t mean using your neighbours bandwith illegally!)
