Ideal Camera for Ribsters...

Hello Folks

Long time no see. Anyway I've just seen this digital camera advertised and it seems ideal for use on a rib. It is waterproof to 20m and it is also bump proof, both necessary if you are out in your rib and want to get some gret piccys.

It is a good price for any digital compact, nevermind a truly waterproof one at about £189.00.

No excuses for not having a camera onboard now folks...

Good looking camera. Could get some decent action shots with that. Looks like its not out just yet but I will be keeping an eye on it.

I have to confess I've been really impressed with this, the Olympus 720 SW

They're waterproof to 3m, and claim to be shockproof for drops of up to 1.5m. Its got a really nice clear 2.5" screen, 7.1 megapix and more picture modes than you can shake a stick at. Also capable of movie mode (even underwater). IMHO its ideal for a rib - we've had some amazing underwater shots as well as some really good above water and high speed capture piccies as well.

You're right about the Hong Kong bit. But their reputation is very good.

I've bought from them (through Ebay), and had a problem. Their response was to send me a full refund (through PayPal).

That may be but sometimes with these companies you don't get the right power adaptors or a manual in english and often the warranties are not valid (unless what you're buying has a world wide warranty).

I have bought a few things worldwide like this - never a problem. had far more trouble buying off what I thought was a legit British dealer - Cactus - grey imports and the VHF not setup for British channels. Also THEY made a mistake and then said they would take me to court for it!!!

manufactures are often a bit sneaky.

Nikon for example have world wide warranties on their lenses, but not on their camera bodies...at least I think its that way around.

Had no problems at all - manuals and software were all in English and the product was great - as was the delivery, only 3 days. May have cause to revise this if ever I need a warranty claim but thus far very impressed
