Hmmm.... the chances of us launching Blue Ice on Saturday are sadly rather remote. Some low-life scumbag has removed all the nuts from the engine transom mount bolts. Fortunately we have a security lock on one of them so the motor's still attached - just!

How long does it take to fit 3 washers & nuts ?

Why don't you fit all 4 bolts with anti-theft ones and make sure you have a long piece of angle iron on the inside of the transom to prevent a chainsaw cutting through it?

Bu**ers aren't they.

it'll take longer to get the damn things! As I'm sure you know, the washers are very wide & thick and the thread on the bolts is very fine - so Yam parts it is then. Yes, I'll prob get at least one more lock device.

Angle iron's a good idea. Don't know if I'll do it - I'm not sure if there's room with all the other stuff. Might design something to fit, though.

I'm not sure if i'm right or not but the security bolts are not as strong as stainless ones, hence you only see one of 'em.

There is of couse no reason why you could not buy 3 more stainless bolts / washers / nuts if you can find a place open on Saturday early a.m. and replace the entire assembly.

Sorry i'm not coming because i could prob. have brought some appropiate nuts and washers with me.

Stainless bolts are not the material of choice, use high tensile ones. Seal them and they'll last for years. They should have 8.8 marked on their heads. They're cheap too. You could use stainless nuts if you prefer. M12's will be fine. Now you just need to find the chunky washers.

You can get them in quite large sizes in a big B + Q wharehouse i think.

Yep, you might be right. I always use the farming suppliers for hardware. They deal with lots of stuff, much of it unavailable elsewhere. Pins, shackles, hydraulics, etc, etc. It's worth dropping in just for a wander around. You may get square, thick galvanised washers. They use them for field gate hinges to prevent the nut burying into the post

"galvanised" on a Scorpion ? never, only the very best polished 316 Stainless Steel made by Krup if you don't mind. And if its anything like the MOD raping it up in 3 little pastic bags means you can charge three times the price.
