The only mushrooms I trust to eat are the ones from the supermarket

I used to work with a clatter of French lads. We raided high and low for a few seasons. I learned from pros - all names in French. We were lucky that we only found mushrooms round these parts Now I have a memory map and calendar of where to look. I even have a few GPS co-ords for special stuff - like a huge reliable patch of Trompette de Mort. I prefer Girolles, and if I can't get those, Chantrelles (our Grey Chantrelle).

I found what I think is a patch of Chantrelles today but they are BIG, 6-8" across, so I'm not sure enough to eat 'em. I've found Trompettes in France but never in the UK. We've got a good spot for Saffron Milk Caps about 200m from Pikey Towers as Maximus will testify to I also had a stonking beefsteak, polyphore today which we've just had stirfried with onion, garlic, chilli & a sliced rump steak, yum!

The mushroom pickers are out roaming the mountains around here looking under the Fir and Pine trees for the Pine Mushrooms -mitshutaki spelling ??
Today they get $6 a pound. The mushrooms are sent off to Japan.

We get the seconds as the buyers like the first class buttons .

We have Morel mushrooms all through our apple orchard some time of the year.
Also hear about finding the magic mushrooms growing in the old cow field.
