How to explain a RIB?

For some reason ive had one of those days where ive had to explain what my boat is and what a rib is 6 times today! Apart from saying its like a giant pit you throw money into i didnt have a good explination!

You guys got any good ways to explain to the older generation in my family?

Nope. I've never able to explain what a RIB is to my father. Even when he was on it. He can't understand why one wouldn't buy a "boat" instead. After a day of this type of conversation you begin to wonder if maybe Jonny Fuller had a point...

i just say, like a dive boat or rescue boat, that usually works. get any more technical and the people that needed to ask in the first place tend to glaze over.

I just say its like a speed boat hull with tubes arround the top with a console to steer from.
usually does the trick.

I used...imagine a fiberglass rectangle with a tube either side & an engine on the back! Kinda worked...
