You have to admire the americans. NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave a 13 minute news-conference to reporters on what the city was doing in preparation for an expected 18" of snow in a 24 hour period. http://www.myfoxny.com/dpp/weather/m...e-20101226-lgf

JFK has shut in plenty time, Delta cancelled flights (before the first snowflake even fell). They've even mobilised the city's refuse trucks and fitted ploughs.

The UK government could learn a lot, instead of our usual approach to bad weather.

And things are getting even worse

Worst ice situation in Baltic Sea since 1987, wonder when will get out on the boat again? In Gulf of Finland more than 15 ice breakers operating. Our friends in east have even more problems, about 100 cargo vessels stuck outside St.Petersburg.

Here a link to original file, to big to upload.

Can't believe it... but we've more snow. Headed back from Inverness yesterday and tried to cross the Suie Hill (between Huntly/Alford) but had to turn back as the a snowplough had skidded off the road. The plough eventually got going, but I thought I'd turn-around, even with 4-wheel drive. Crazy... as I was a little sun-burnt last weekend giving the car a spring valet!
