I'm having it fitted at work and at home so they move onto the next easy target.
The ones at work also cover the loading doors and yard as the insurance like the forklifts to be on film.

I've ordered in cab camera's for the truck and cars too.

NO not that I am aware of Tony.

A few weeks ago one of my neighbours a bit further down from me was burgled while they were away for the weekend clearing his house out and also taking a firearm (shotgun) which was in a gun safe bolted to the wall... wait for it... he had no CCTV or burglar alarm fitted so how the heck he was issued with a firearms licence I will never know, I would have thought that a BA would have been a minimum requirement .

Anyways the Police knocked on my door to see if my cameras (my old ones) had picked anything up so I checked them out and the front one picked up a transit van speeding down the lane they sent a specialist down to take a copy from my computer to see if they could enhance the images.

The Police phoned me up a few days later thanking me and that the images they had taken from cameras were very helpful.

The Police never asked why I did not display a sign warning of CCTV on my property so I guess if it was a requirement the Police being the Police that they would have nicked me.

No the signs are a consequence of the Data Protection Act so don't apply for domestic set ups. Of course, considering that 1/2 the value is encouraging them to go an nick HumberPaul's boat instead it might be worth make it very obvious!

To stop people nicking them! I understand it works on a risk assessment basis and if you have a small number of weapons in a nice (low risk) area with good external door/window locks you don't need an alarm. As risk increases (more weapons, higher crime area etc) an alarm is needed for the 'gun store' and at the top level of risk for the whole building.

Put it this way if he would have had an alarm going off the tea leafs would not have got away with stealing a firearm along with their other swag.

Apparently they broke in Friday night and left Saturday morning then came back again saturday tea time to clear the house.

There is always somebody about on our street. So if an alarm was going off someone would have checked it out and phoned the police

Such insightful responses to, in the first instance, my own opinion based on experience as to what worked. I never said there is no point at all to CCTV, which is what you wrongly drew from my comment. You're arguing with yourself.

The second, legal fact is you don't need an alarm to have a gun licence. So by inference you call our own gun laws and the bodies that enforce them stupid, when in fact we have lower gun crime than many other countries. If a gun is secure and hidden, unless someone knows there's a gun it is v unlikely to be stolen.

You do make me chuckle at times. Accept there's two viewpoints to any argument and you might learn something once in a while. Read a statement and interpret it correctly instead of drawing the wrong conclusions.

we do have the tightest laws, and you dont neccessarily need an alarm unless you live in Polys scheme .. as for you TT .. its trousers down at the border from now on fella .. Jambo will do the cavity search

I never said that an alarm was a legal requirement... but I do think that when you apply for a firearm licence I would have thought that it would be a minimum requirement

there's nae point in an an alarm here - there's always some idiot who's cat / dug / wind / fault has set the thing off so that nobody checks them anymore. Bitter experience unfortunately.

You may be just as well spending the money on other safety things to prevent it being nicked.

You was advertising on here not to long ago for anyone wanting to store their ribs in your secure unit I guess with what you are saying is that it is not that secure now unless you have humans or animals protecting it 24/7.
