HMS Vanguard & The Still & West Pub

This is amazing ... they dont make warships like that anymore. The gun turret is as big as the pub!!! Also somebody cant drive straight!

Yep its real, she was on the way to be scrapped and broke loose from the tugs ... a bit like a final act of resistance. There is a massive photo of this in the Still and West pub.

HMS Vanguard and the Still & West

The picture is no longer on display at the "Still and West". The pub changed hands last year (2003) and sadly the departing landlord took the magnificent photograph with him.

there are still some smaller photos in the still n west pub on the far wall
or there are more pics here
I would have loved to watch this happen from the shore! A sad end to a great ship.
