But that's the whole point - if Clarkson could get that far in it think how much better a driver like you could do!!!

I think it was on normal road tyres in which case it did pretty well - the getting stuck was entirely due to Clarkson not knowing a bottomless bog when he sees one!!!

If i remember correctly it was a Disco 3 that they took up the mountain (a huge improvement on 1 & 2). The Defender is a great bit of kit and shouldn't be lumped in with a Frillylander.

Nice car, I drive my dads A6, but its only a 2.5 diesel

I suppose the RS6 has twin pipes one either side, so would probably melt the towbar. Could always have a custom made side exit one!!!
I have always wondered about cars like the Mini Cooper S and the Ashtray VXR, both of which have centre exit exhausts, which I assume means theres no chance of a towbar.

Think it averages about 34mpg, which isn't bad, doesnt go badly, but FWD and an auto box, so not exactly rapid off the line. Its wafts up to motorway speeds relatively swiftly but doesnt pin you to the seat like an RS6.
Its predecessor was a beemer 330d, brilliant car, you get the performance (new one is sub 7secs to 60, and top end of 155mph) and you get 42mpg, we did see 45mpg a few times. Disadvantage is everyone thinks your a t*** in a silver bm!

It was on knobblies and he was far too busy mincing about-that bog was solid enough to get through if he knew what he was doing-or was in a decent vehicle rather than something that treats you like an idiot and tries to take the decisions from you. Would help if the disco 3 was about 3/4 tonne lighter too.

And what vehicle have I got? Defender 110 V8!!!

Personally I think the Disco 3 is as ugly as sin - the front looks great but from the back it looks like a garden shed.

They are great onroad but not as good as they used to be offroad - still way ahead of things like the BMW and Merc though!!!
