Free phoning

Since most of you guys spend a hell of a lot of time in front of your computer screens (like me) why not make free calls at the same time to friends & family and why not business calls as well

down load from www.skype.com and follow the instructions

I must say it is great and now only make my business calls abroad that way
and since I make quite a lot my target for my next bill for overseas calls is
£0.00

I had filed this under the "too good to be true" or "Whats the catch" headings but rereading both the site and your comments mebbe I should give it a go. Could prove extremely useful from Nov 17th this year!

I shall try it.

Last time was about 2 years ago and there was a delay and echo.

Sounds like they have sorted it out.

Cheers

Just thought I would bring this thread back to life again and find out if anybody has taken advantage of this free phoning.

I ,like probably most of you, get a lot of calls nearly every day from telephone companies trying to sell me the BEST DEAL around. Well so far they have not been able to beat skype

Alan, I now know what you meant by 17th Nov and don't tell me you have still got it filed under "Too good to be true"

Skypetastic

Andre,

Its brilliant and I cant thank you enough for bringing it to my attention! We have family and friends signed up on it and use it almost every day. Even the Skypeout service where you buy credit for phonecalls to landlines is a massive saving over transatlantic telephone rates (some 80% cheaper than our telephone service!)

It still seems to good to be true but it works and works well!

Cheers,
Alan

RIBase
I signed up on Alan (and Andre's) say so.
Absolutely correct. It is free and there isnt a catch.

The only tiny-tiny drawback is, that I have been getting spam or junk calls.
This is easily fixed' initially I barred "X" from calling. But even easier, I made myself "invisible" to the spammers by checking the appropriate menu item.
To be double-sure, I have created a list of other Skypers who I am permitting to call me and only those get through.

So, if you think you are worthy..............

Alan, pleased to have been of service
the beauty of this syetm is also the fact that you can have a 3-4 way conversation which you can't have on a normal line AND IT IS FREE if computer to computer

I think I have said this before but no harm in repeating

"mine's a Guinness"

Brian , as for any spam well I have been using Skype since October 04 and have not had this problem. Perhaps on a few occasions somebody called but as I did not recognize the username I did not authorise the call and was not bothered again
One of our girls in the Polish office made a mistake in posting her photo and this resulted in lots of calls from her so called "Skype fan club" so she promptly removed the photo.
Best not to put any telephone numbers or addresses or photos in the profile.

Todate I have saved a bomb on overseas and national calls

Hi Andre

I'm at work right now, so I'm sorry that I don't have a picture, But it's the same boat I had when we where at Ribes last year, and it's the same boat we had, when we had our little meeting in Denmark.
The only difference is a new engine, the Yahama Vmax gave up on me (I bought to cheap 2 stroke oil). So changed it for a suzuki 250 (great engine).

I will try to find a picture of the boat with the new engine

Looking forward to seeing you again some time
Rene

Although I've had it on my PC for 8 months, installed it out of interest, never know anyone who had it.

Just had a conversation with Brian and the sound quality is better than a phone line.

Fantastic

Don't forget it is free when computer to computer. Why not buy the SKYPEOUT and call a normal landline it will still be much cheaper
I will call you so perhaps one day with Brian we can hold a 3 way conversation
