Fly(may)be

Hmm. The curse of FlyBe struck again this weekend.

That airline appears to be jinxed when it comes to punctuality. Had given up booking with them after an episode one too many at Christmas that almost saw me eating a BLT in So'ton airport for Christmas dinner.

Decided to give them a try again this weekend.

Fri night, however - out of So'ton, practically ALL their flights were either delayed by >2 hours or, as in my case, cancelled. They blamed bad weather ... (seemed fine to me?). Had hoped to fly to Dublin (Dublin airport arrivals indicated that mine was only flight from the UK to be cancelled).
Options offered were to fly to Belfast + 2hr bus transfer to Dublin, or to fly at 7am on Sat am.

They did arrange taxis, "hotel" (a whole other story), etc - which I guess is more than certain other carriers would've offered.

This evening, landing approach No. 1 aborted ... "couldn't see runway". Approach No. 2 was successful.

Had a glance at their departures board on the way out - same deal again - cancellations/delays all 'round.

We used to us them as we make regular visits to Dublin.
Due to all the issues we had with Fly(may)Be we now no longer fly with them.

Their loss due to repeated awful service.

Meant to be flying with them from Brest to Soton next Tuesday, so I didn't want to read this!

Anyone got experience of that route?

Nope, but Glasgow to Southampton never later than 20 min, unlike Sleasy Jet who cant even get to Belfast on time .

Squeazy Jet are superb. They held a plane on the tarmac for 12 mins for me in Faro when I'd majorly cocked up timings trying to get through Christmas shopping traffic in Lisbon. Use them when ever possible. I'd rather walk than fly Ryanair.

we had to make a flight from madrid to geneva about 8 weeks ago, BA and iberia wanted around 680£ for that one way flight as it was part of a much bigger trip, Squeezy jet charged 19£ and we got a front seat and an brand spanking new plane, we checked in with no queues, a very pleasant trip i must say.

tis my only trip on squeezy but was superb i must say

On a positive note....

We went to New Zealand a few weeks ago by Singapore Airlines.

Fantastic airline.

When we described the quality of service we'd experienced to my sister (who's regularly flown the route with other airlines) she asked "Did you go first class?" - "No, economy!"

Excellent meals, excellent staff, and more films on the DVD system than we could watch over 42 hours of flying. Even their call centre for booking was helpful (Unlike Emirates!).
