Flooding RNLI Tewkesbury class

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/g...re/6910559.stm

Just look at the new Tewkesbury class lifeboat!!!

The flooding around there is incredible - ALL our home insurance premiums will go up to cover this....

Looking at the aerial footage one thing struck me - the Medieval buildings are fine - on higher ground - seems they knew what they were doing in those days.

Truly devastating for those whose homes have been flooded. The after effects can last for months and because this is all on such a large scale help will be spread very thinly.

Your right that our insurance premiums will probably go up but I believe that insurance companies factor these happenings in to their premiums already. Also several news reports have highlighted how many people don't have any insurance.

I've just been listening to the local radio giving information on how to get sandbags if you live near the River Thames, and also telling people to move stuff upstairs and prepare emergency food stocks (Sounds like a war zone). Yet here 15 miles away we have no effects whatsoever.

When is this going to end ?

A lot of the "Medieval buildings" were build in the late 60's

What always amazes me are the people who are "trapped" and need to be rescued. Usually the water is about knee deep!!!

Now I realise the water is probably not that clean but it's not full of HCl or Piranha fish is it???

Society as a rule is getting a lot older and unfitter. Probably the answer.

Didn't take the boat, but who needs one when you have a Landy. Hope the waters go soon, I am off to change all the oils now.

We figured that this very new (but very dirty) landy was fine after its quick wash somewhere outside haverfordwest since there was no water stuck in the headlights

Where did you get that pic Peter?

being a bit of a lifeboat anorak , I think you'll find they are actually from SARA - the Severn Area Rescue Association:

http://www.sara-rescue.org.uk/thefleet.htm

It was bugging me cos I knew it wasn't an RNLI boat. The RNLI are helping out in the floods, but they use mostly D class SIBs (or variants of them) for flood work.

Then I saw someone from SARA being interviewed on the BBC and it all became clear

Cheers

Chris

Nick.

I think it's something to do with the phone they were taken on. They work OK if I take them with my digital camera.

Whoever they are they have bucket loads of money to spend on boats.
