Farm Quad Bike?

Can anyone recommend a quad bike that can be used off road to tow a small tipping trailer?

Also is a 4x4 really necessary?

Having looked at eBay they are really expensive so don't want to buy a load of trouble.

i borrowed a farm quadbike on the isle of man it was a 250 honda towed my quicksilver 500 with ease up hill across fields etc i was amazed all up my boat must of weighed 3/4 T
i do know an old boy with a camper van who uses one to tow a small ali boat because he has walking difficulties.

I have a Honda foreman 500 4x4 auto, I bought it from my partners work with only 900 hrs in vgc apart from the frame lower rails which had rotted out from rock damage.

I only bought it to sell on once I had replaced the frame with one from a quad breaker. Never owned one before but it is so good I have kept it, tows 6m boats and you don't know they are on it, drags trees out of the ground with ease.

What a can of worms! And the PRICES!!!

Been looking at ebay and wow.... "the starter doesn't work and there is no return on the pull cord, but apart from that it's fine"

I'm starting to think that the transport box on the tractor will be a better option as it's lower to shovel stuff in and you can get a bit of reverse ramming speed

Just a pain to keep swapping it over... (lazy git)

I'm probably missing something here, but if you have a tractor and a tipping trailer why not just use them together?

Honda all the way. Whatever you do, and however cheap it is, don't even think about one of the Chinese junkmobiles - Quadzilla etc. Absolute trash. Half the price of a decent one and 1% of the quality.

It's amazing what one of the manual gearbox agricultural Hondas will tow in 1st gear - I have moved a big military four-wheeled trailer full of hay bales with the old one on the farm (TRX350 born in about 1990). Stopping can be 'interesting' though
