Another vote for the Clearview - it burns down to glowing embers overnight so you just throw on another log in the morning and open up two vents - about 10 minutes to get back up to temperature. That means that it stays running for weeks at a time (between 300 and 500 degrees F).

There seem to be lots of active forums at http://www.greenbuildingforum.co.uk if you have lots of time for research.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm ok!

For a certain birthday I had recently I was given a present by the Father in law which was to be Zoo keeper for a day at Paignton Zoo (stick with me here it is relevant) - anyway to heat the water in the Croc pool they have a couple of automated wood burners and I was given the tour of the heating and filtration room - fascinating!
