Hey a coupla weeks ago whilst zooming across the English channel we managed to drive through a whole bunch of Mackeral jumping about on the surface. I was just waiting for one of them to land on the boat.

I was on the helm somewhere between the Azores and Ireland at about 3 am. Flying fish came all over the place, cut by face, split my lip, I was throwing the buggers out of the cockpit as fast as they came in. Great fun I guess. A friend of mine gave me a tip: place a white sheet/ sail 1/2 over the cockpit and shine a light on it. The flying fish will jump and drop into the cockpit and make great bait for the next days fishing. Also, flying fish roe is close to high quality and expensive caviar.
