Dolphin protection
Just read this in Cornwall, scroll down to the end of article Sun and hot temperatures to return to UK as flood warnings are removed | Mail Online
Shows Dolphins in surf but appears they were chased away- is that allowed? I believed they were protected.

It would seem they are protected, although this article states chasing them in a boat as the illegal example, and not in a helicopter!

Dolphins are protected, but that doesn't mean they can do what they want where they want! They are routinely scared/enticed away to allow underwater works to be carried out. Bear in mind too that some dolphins can be dangerous and are better not approached by swimmers...

What type of dolphins are dangerous to humans? Are you talking about the North Devon blood pack gang they are always giving out attitude with their flippers!
Seriously got me worried now I have jumped in the water many a time into a pod of dolphins it's a great experience getting buzzed by them. I've personally not heard of any negative experiences but probably haven't searched for bad experiences on internet.

No "type" of dolphin is inherently dangerous. It's just that they're very big animals and we aren't. Plus we think we know what they're thinking, and we don't...

Sorry to say, jumping in to a pod of Dolphins could result in a £5000 fine!

AJ, I was pulling your leg, I did not think you meant it literally.
Kerny, virtually everyone has a method of taking a picture/video. If an individual or boat can be identified, they will prosecute. They being various Government Departments.
Civil prosecutions can also be brought by independent bodies too.
I have witnessed this a few times along the South Coast and they were caught!

That Dolphin is a nomad.... Do a search for 'Clett' first recorded en France, travels the UK and Ireland also.... was with us for a while last year.
Amazing animals, but a top predator up to 4m long, girth of a cow with a battering ram for a nose.... And intelligence enough to take its own view on whether someone is behaving like a 'twat' (see also earlier post re zero twat tolerance etc)...deserves proper respect!
