day boating

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows of somewhere I can hire a boat on a river for me and my family to go out for the day. I need somewhere close (50m or so) to southampton.... just want something small that we can potter around in, and maybe have a picnic..

I think Paul Glatzel does small boats in Poole Harbour. Alternatively (and its a bit further than you mention) there is a company that does a lot of small powerboats that are reasonably priced down in Salcombe.

We can bare boat charter you a 6m RIB in the Solent if that's of interest.

Oooooh now that's a thought - hadn't considered the option of hiring a RIB once i can play again

Yeah, anything would be good.. I have my boat for going out in the solent etc.. I just wanted something different... some small river and a dinghy... if someone hires canal boats at a good price... i'd be interested too.... not sure where to look though

Riverside pub in Lechlade hires day boats I think, or you could talk to RickUK3 about hiring his dayboat (google Cosgrove Narrowboats) on the Grand Union near Milton Keynes-though both are over 50 miles away.
