Of course we're all amateur super sleuths now but I think they had to pitch the cost of the boat about right to be credible and not wasteful. She hardly looks like the type to have taken up kayaking........

Wasn't speculating, just commenting on the reason for marriage prior to the event, if the worst scenario were true.

Maybe I'm just a grumpy old cynic but look at the pictures, she's tidy and well dressed with a DB9 and a scruffy old Moody??? I've been around marinas a fair few years and never seen someone turn up in a car like that and get onto a heap like that. Then there's the manky old trainer and the timing, just after they got remarried. If I was the insurance company I'd be warey of this one.

It's a fair view.

How about, set off at 6.30pm out of Mousehole, got 10-12m off after dark, hopped onto another awaiting boat, let the Moody go to be smashed up on Sevenstones reef, big life assurance claim?

if the boat you buy and use is insured, what does it matter what it cost, all part of the scam (if it is one, but something isn't right).

Then I'd assume you'd buy private so you don't have a broker saying you we're told not to go etc ?

Why DID Mary sail to disaster? She insisted on sailing solo round Land's End on the yacht she'd just been given by her new husband. Now she's vanished - leaving a tantalising mystery... | Mail Online

I think we are underestimating how silly people can be. I agree with pete, Does anyone not remember the Canadian bloke who was rescued by the RNLI 5 times because he was trying to navigate to Canada with a world atlas. He was ok when u spoke to him but stubborn and dogmatic about his trip.

I doubt whether a 'body' will ever be found, other than walking in to Bideford police station perhaps.

Depends on how you're applying the word.

IF this isn't an insurance scam, she seems to have had the same bloody minded 'I'm never wrong even if it kills me' attitude as the guy I know who bolted a Seagull on the back of a jetski hull.

I'd call that pretty stupid!

I'd happily re-marry my ex wife, insure her to the hilt, buy her an old boat and wave her off into the blue.

You've got that all wrong. Use it as a chance to upgrade your boat, that's what I'd do!
