Muriatic acid will work fine, 50% solution (add acid to water not the otherway) and is cheap. Mask of the skirting first. All etch products are acid based. Remove any grease first.

Yes it is weird. It depends on the application. In the swimming pool industry it is called Muriatic both sides of the pond. This side it is also called hydrocloric. All the same stuff. I buy it for $1.50 for a US gallon. Funny how when you put a different label on it the price more than doubles. If I bought it with a "drain cleaner" label on it it would be 10x.

www.sovereignchemicals.com

These guys are very popular in the building trade and will give advice . Prices are ok to .

I guess you are refering to what the trade call brick acid to etch the floor ??

I really don't know but I would find out if it could effect the paint you put on afterwards .
iam sure you can hire a machine not unlike a power float that kind of abrades the floor
