Computer help

Hoping a computer boff can help me...

Why does my outlook often crash when I try and open it? I have to repair office for it to work again.

Why did my clock and date reset to decemeber 31st 2000 when I started it a minute ago (that was on the second start attempt, the first resulted in a black screen and all I could do was move the mouse)?

Why does it sometimes take ages for my wireless connection wotsit to appear in my taskbar?

Why does my monitor/graphics card sometimes reset itself to a lower screen res (although it hasn't done this for ages).

I've heard that my belkin wireless network card software may be clashing with my windows wireless card software, is this right?

This is a relatively new computer and it has never been right since I got it from Mesh

Any help apprciated!

Tim i had the same problem with my wireless i found the solution was to right click on the icon on the taskbar and click view avaliable wireless networks. Go to change advanced settings that will bring up another box you then click on the wireless networks tab and tick the box allow windows to configure my network settings.

Hope this helps. I found i only had this problem after i installed service pack 2.

This is what I would do, and is by no means an expert opinion!

Backup the system using file wizard.

Make a restore point in XP

Run windows update, update the drivers for all devices, graphics, network etc.

Still problems flash your Motherboard (MoBo) to the latest Firmware, this can be very scary as it sounds like you may have MoBo problems anyway and it may fail rendering the PC useless.

If all the above fails reinstall windows, still got problems replace the MoBo, although it may be easier to replace the MoBO first rather than reinstall windows. Have fun
