Hi
The only company that i know of that will hire a vehicle with a towbar fitted is 'SHB 4X4'
They have a depot in Airdrie.
Google it for full contact details.
Hope this helps

Simon

Has it got to be a car? I've always found it easier to hire a transit size van with a towbar. No idea who'd have one up in Edinburgh though.

If you've already got a suitable car it may be just as cheap to fit a tow bar (its always cost me about £200 to get one fitted). If you've not got a suitable car then it might be worth talking to Rogue Wave - i've no idea what his costs are, but if he's doing roughly the same journey and just hitching a trailer up you might be in the same ball park. And Shipley seem to have been quoting reasonable figures to people on here for reasonably long distance deliveries.

Thank Pol

I do commute from the south to ABZ so I'm always happy to stick a boat on my insured towhook.

But to answer your question nobody will hire you a tow vehicle as hire companies can't get them insured. SHb will hire you a landie with a tow hook but you have to arrange your own insurance which you can do for a couple of days via special agencies. SHB charge a fairly stiff mileage charge but they are national and will have something in Edinburgh

dayinsure.com will not cover hired vehicles. I don't think that any of the short term insurers will either.

Hired one from Thrifty hire last month. http://www.thrifty.co.uk/

It was a Warrior - great to drive if a little thirsty. Enterprise can some time source a landi if you have one of them locally.

Hi RW
If you happen to be in Wales these chaps do hire out tow vehicles.
www.colleys-hire.co.uk and they do a fine job of it as well.

Wish my local Landy dealer did that! Pretty good prices too. Wouldn't mind a RR sport for the weekend

For future reference for those in the South, these guys have a Ford ranger 4x4 pickup with towbar: Car Rental Portsmouth | Van Hire Portsmouth UK

Also hired a van a few months ago from a national company (can't remember which one) which came with a towbar.
