Phil,

Don't think LR have ever marketing the Defender as handbuilt as its not a decision to ensure high quality rather that the design is so old that process capability is not an option!

Quality...

Look at the quality of the riveting over the rear wheel arch on ANY defender. When I was an apprentice, I wouldn't have been allowed to go home with workmanship like that!!

There are only three 'man-made' things that you can see from space - the M25, The Great Wall of China, and the panel gaps on any solihull product.

However, having said that, I loved my LWB SIII, and I think my wife's Discovery is the dogs danglys!!

No, my comments weren't aimed at Land Rover at all, Alan, but when someone mentions hand-built it starts me off!!

my old landrovers i had had very few build problems

ex HM COAST GUARD series Three SWB 1982 with blus and twos nice capstan
winch all ways got parking at the beach

ex MET POLICE V8 90 1985 with all the mods very fast no rust any were

the newer i got the the worst they got

the last was a discovery GS7 TD5 2000 and it slowly fell apart day by day

so now i just borrow the new one from work no repair cost

phil i can do two cheap 25mm self bailers for your range rover lights

dan

That's a coincidence, Dan - I got a letter from HR Owen this morning telling me they're going to replace all the lamp units under warranty due to water ingress. They're looking after me well
