This is what you want - seriously retro and now quite cool - I reckon they would sell well now as a boy's toy!!!

Oh my word a sinclair C5. Haven't come across those for a while! Not as easy to store as a goped though. Could do the whole neons and spinners I reckon!

P.S. Tim - There are places to park near the Uni buildings, you just have to know where and how

Tim forgot your nearly 20, im not 19 yet, although we are in the same year group, im a young one (July), and your October. Your no claims from your car would carry over I guess, although you would still be regarded as inexperience on a moped, best get some quotes, if its under 100 to insure probably worth it. Tax is 15, 4.50 to fill it up and ours does about 70mpg.

Jimbo, nah what you want is one of these, if you want it im sure we can come to some arrangement, 70 and its yours! Yes they are illegal, but they are damn good fun, think it does just under 35mph gps!

Alex is right.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/Motoring/Le...430&chk=QSZwT5

Cut off date for automatic moped entitlement was passing your car test before 1st Feb 2001.

So you will need to do CBT no matter what (by my maths at almost 20, you couldn't have passed in 2001). CBT is only valid for 2 years.

If you want to ride something bigger than a moped (max 50 kph, and 50cc) I think you also need to apply for a provisional licence (and therefore use L plates) for category A1. This allows you to go upto 125 cc. Beyond that you need to apply for category A, but need supervised by an instructor until you pass your test.

I would go for pedal cycle option - surely you will get just as wet on scooter.

Guess lack of petrol is an environmental thing! Those things look pretty cool though...

You have to have some no claims for it to carry over.

Now, if I had money to burn that is the sort of crazy thing I'd buy! Talk to me at the end of the summer if you still haven't sold it

I was assuming Tim had some no claims? Unless you know something I don't
And they won't look to kindly on that speeding ticket
Yeah no problem, not advertised really, just sat in the shed, you can have a go in the summer. I was stupid enough to buy one new, secondhand they sort of make sense. A friend of mine has the 125cc scrambler version, now that is nuts, they are all cheap chinese copies at the end of the day though, most of the time its in bits!

Most companies won't carry it over.

I used to have a Go-ped that I rode to and from work as it was quicker using the cycle paths on it than getting the bike or car out and using the roads. Huge amounts of fun, bugger all fuel costs and small enough to carry when I got there.

As ppl are saying above if you past your test after Feb 2001 you will need to sit a CBT.

Instead of going for a 50cc scooter you should consider a monkey bike, ive got two of them, and much more fun than a scooter. They come in 50cc guise and are classed as a moped... but the best bit is you can fit a 110cc engine and it looks the exact same as a 50cc. Not that im suggesting any tries to dupe the insurance Also its only 2 bolts 2 change the engine and you can pick up a brand new engine for a couple of hundred quid.

Try this link...

Monkey Bike
