Can anyone recommend a decent campsite around Lymington?

There are plenty in The New Forest. Usually first come first served and you need batteries and water supply. There are taps but the pitches are very " rural ", is the best description. Aqua rolls are required.

Hurst view campsite is the nearest to Lymington (5- 10 mins in the car from the slipway).
Hurst View Leisure, camping, luxury holiday accomodation, log cabin, new forest, Milford-on-Sea, Lymington, hampshire, uk

Never tried it but the campers looked like they were enjoying themselves when we walked past last Friday evening (but it wasn't raining then!)

At least four sites around Brockenhurst:
Brockenhurst Campsites and and Caravan Sites Hampshire

Long Meadow and Hollands Wood are quite close to the Lyndhurst - Brockenhurst Rd whereas Aldridge Hill and Roundhill are are bit more 'country'. No idea what facilities they have but there is a good indian restaurant and chinese takeway in Brock!

No toilets in Aldridge Hill, so you need to bring your own bog.

Very nice pint of Ringwood Fortyniner in the Forresters in Brockenhurst and a tidy beef & Guinness pie. :-)

I would recomend the redshoot campsite at linwood which is near ringwood, not that far from lymington, family friendly and the bonus is there is the redshoot pub on the doorstep. Good walks in the area.

XS400 recommended Hurst view, but I may have a look at Red Shoot now if there is a pub!

Plenty to choose from it would seem.

You actually drive through the pub car park to get to the camping site. So cant be much closer than that. It is a quiet country pub so no worries about noise levels.

Tenting for 2 nights, arrive Friday night, SIB across the Solent and back on Saturday and then drink loads of larger Saturday night.

It's all weather dependant so not set in stone yet.

I'd suggest Hollands Wood in that case, but can't recommend any lager venues, as it's not really on my menu (despite being partial to the occasional gallon of Artois)
