Box trailer suspension

I have a nice old trailer that gets loads of use but the suspension units have never worked - always on their stops. It means the trailer is very low and I am always worried in case it breaks altogether.

I want to fit new units but seeing the prices they charge it woul;d be cheaper to get a new trailer.

They need to be heavy duty - say 1500kgs the pair.

Any ideas? Something out of a scrappy for example. A landrover axle would be a bit OTT I think!!!

have you had a look at an Esgrot van rear axle and leaf springs?
i am sure i looked at one and thought "thats crying out to be used for a trailer" should be plenty in scrappys. probably a bit less then 1500kgs, but the FWD talbot vans are a good axle for a trailer too.......

You won't have auto-reverse brakes with an axle off a van.

Here you go £270.00 made to measure, just don't rig the brakes far cheaper than sodding about with a pile of crap from the scrapy

http://www.trailertek.com/acatalog/b...ion_axles.html

And plate it up with this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TRAILER-CHASSI...3A1%7C294%3A50

Is it a home made trailer?
