Big wave surfing in Ireland

Beautiful cliffs / backdrop. Gnarly waves.

Why do they have to spoil such a dramatic video by only letting you see it in a tiny window? Doesn't look very impressive on a big monitor!!!

They look like tsunami waves I have never seen anything that big on the west coast. I need to get out more.

From what I've heard Ireland has alot of really good surf. That video is enticing. Alot of the paddle in surfers looked like they were taking some major beatings. I don't think I'd surf it but it sure would be fun to watch from the side. Beautiful cliffs too! Looks damn cold.

Looks a bit like the surf they get in New Zeland (I think?) Is it Laird Hammilton who has some good DVD stuff where they use jetskis to pull them onto the big surf

Last week I saw an incredible wave at Mumbles - opposite the coastguard station. It looked like a Tsunami you see in the films. Must have been about 15 or 20' high - moving at a hell of a speed. Weird thing was the sea was flat calm at the time!!!

We waited for a while and a few more came but nothing as spectacular. Tide was right our so can only assume it was some sort of rip coming off the Mixon shoals. Don't know why but I have NEVER seen surfers out there - maybe they are scared of the rocks???
