Any Skiers in da' House?

It's chucking it down over there and we're off to Italy in 3 weeks.
Wish i'd hit the gym now.
Look out for a bunch of beery ribnetters falling about all over the Dolomites over New Years week.

Lots of ski racing in the valley when you're there, Mollers. I think the Saaslong is going to be busy - don't let them get in your way.

I was a ski instructor and spent a few seasons in the Alps including a couple in Val D'Isere, if you can get to a dry slope it will exercise the correct muscles and prevent some of the stiffness you get in the first couple of days.

You've had plenty of exercise with your right arm (drinking that is)

Started in Saas Fee ('79 - 80!), also been to Montgenevre, 3 valleys (Val Thorens), Flaine, Andorra, Schladming and a couple of others for shorter periods, Val D'Isere is my favourite, but you need to be quite adventurous (and know your way around) to get the off piste as the easy to get to stuff gets skied out quite early.

Going to Morzine for the stag party in January for a long weekend, and Winterpark with my fiancé in February helping on a charity trip with a bunch of disabled children which will be a challenge but I'm sure will have its moments!

ps I was lucky enough to be in Val for the '92 season when they had the Olympics - very spoilt!

Got my best ever hang over in the Wallisserhof Hotel in Saas Fee, was there for a christmas in the 90's, and had a bit to much wine and cognac to wash the 7 course banquet down.

Wasn't that impressed with the skiing though, what with either the funicular, or that damn tow rope behind the Piste basher was a right pain in the butt!

My favourite of all places though would have to be Argentiere.

Yeh, Le Clusaz with some different pals. Over the years my regular chums have dropped off, use to be 4 or 5 of us who regulary had 2 or 3 trips each season, but marriage, babies etc seem to have put paid to that.

Wifes no longer interested in skiing, so I've not really done that much in the last couple of years.

I thought the rest Cham was pretty crap, old, outdated lift systems, too spread out, massive queues and tosspot Brits everywhere.

Never really really found the lifts a problem, queues can be bad if you pick the wrong month to go, too spread out is it's charm, you can't complain about the Vallee Blanche, and unfortunately there's toss pot brits where ever you go, although Chamonix and Meribel has more than their fair share!

Good casino in Cham though.

And the fattest bastud cat you've ever seen, lying in the shop doorway next to 'Le Chocolatier' I'm sure he gets first dibs on all the leftovers from next door.
I walked past him and thought some poor unfortunate French lady had dropped her fur coat, then the coat started purring

Only ever been to Chamonix in the Summer. £35pp for a return cable car ticket up Mont Blanc put me right off the place.
