Yep - Cervinia is definitely the favoured side of the Matterhorn.

There's a lovely run down from the top of Plateau Rosa into Zermatt. From around 2/3 of the way down, at Furgg, it's a gentle black (should be red, really) from behind the lift station. A bonkers run, just like a rollercoaster - loads of mad drops & hairpin bends . Can't stop laughing all the way down it. Bit of a flat push alongside the river at the bottom though. Then you're back into Switzerland and all those 'quaint' cable cars.

If you do venture over the other side into Cervinia (highly recommended and only around 20 Euro/day extra), then there's a great long run from Plateau Rosa into Valtournenche. My mate, O'D loves it.

O'D would say, without any degree of doubt, that he had never been down that way before. At which point I would spray my BOMB-BA-DINO all over Zermatt.
