Not been to Finland, but have done Are in Sweden a couple of times, feckin cold We had minus 30 a couple of times, you need some serious thermals. We bought mittens which were a lot warmer than gloves.

I was in Tignes mid December, snow was OK up high but the fact 3000 damn students turned up to fill the place to breaking point did not help.

Might try & squeeze a quicky in early Jan IF it dumps

We've become fans of Scandi in the last few years, and have done Yllas, Levi and Ruka in Finland, Are in Sweden and Geilo in Norway. All can be very cold, but is a very "nice" dry cold... Certainly snow has never been a problem any of the times we've been there!

Hope you have a great time - we find Scandinavia a really nice change from "mainland" resorts, and whilst the mountains aren't anywhere near as tall, the skiing conditions are typically superb and there's wonderful off piste.
